Hello! My name is Brett and I am one of the other main writers on Outdoor VM. I am 23 yrs. Old (don’t let my age fool you, I‘ve been exploring the outdoors since the age of 3) and was born and raised in the “City of Champions” which is Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

For the past couple years I have spent copious amounts of time in the wilderness as a environmental scientist, studying ecosystems and working along side oil companies. I spend a majority of my time during the summer exploring the many rivers and lakes Alberta and British Columbia have to offer. Fly-fishing is the one main reason why I explore rivers and lakes, besides seeing the most beautiful untouched places on earth. Some times I will even “bushwhack” with a 40-80 pound pack, this way I know for sure I will not run into any ATV’s or other motor vehicles. My fly-fishing career started when I was at the age of 5 or 6 and my favorite fish is the notorious “Brown Trout”. My father (who is a member of the “King Fisher’s”) taught me everything there is to know about fly-fishing well… except for fly tying and bugs.

For the winter’s I spend the majority of my time in the city, but I do try to get out to the ski resorts as much as possible. Every year I seem to miss out on the great resort powder so for the past few years I have being slowly making my way back country. I have gone into some backcountry resorts, which are absolutely beautiful and seem to have an unlimited amount of powder runs if you are willing to hike.

My next adventures are to travel to Peru, Chile, Nepal, New Zealand, and India. I would really like to see the different cultures and of course the land and maybe see if there are any trout river’s. My main goal right now is to really get my filming career off the ground so the traveling may have to wait a couple years. This summer I plan on filming a tonne of fly-fishing and as well as making an instructional fly-fishing DVD. So stay tuned….
